Facts about the History of India

  • India is the largest and the oldest civilisation in the world.

  • India holds the record of not invading any other country in the last 10,000 years of her history.

  • Interestingly, India was one of the richest countries on earth before the British invaded it in the early 17th century, and was also one of the first countries in the world where diamonds were found.

  • Sanskrit is one of the earliest known languages in the world, and a member of the Indo-European family of languages, from which most modern European languages have originated.

  • The 13th century Indian poet Saint Gyandev is credited for creating the famous game of Snakes and Ladders. The ladders denote virtues, while the snakes symbolise vices in the game. With time the game incorporated several modifications; nevertheless, the original meaning remains unchanged, i.e. good deeds take you to heaven, and evil to a cycle of rebirths. Chess, which was originally called "Chaturanga", was also invented in India. The meaning of "Chaturanga" is four members of an army.

  • Brahmagupta, the Indian Mathematician, was the first to develop the concept of Zero (0), while Aryabhata developed the Place Value System. In the sixth century, Budhayana, another Indian Mathematician, was the first person to calculate the value of "pi". He did this much before any mathematician in Europe. Also, Bhaskaracharya very correctly calculated the time (365.258756484 days) taken by the Earth to orbit the Sun, long before Western astronomers.

  • In the year 1526, the Mughal Empire was established by Babur in India.

  • The construction of the Taj Mahal was completed in AD 1653 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.

  • The Indian National Congress was formed in the year 1885.

  • The Amritsar Massacre (Jallianwala Bagh Massacre) took place on 13 April 1919.

  • Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948.

  • Ayurveda, which is the earliest school of medicine in the world, was born in India thousands of years ago.

Some facts about Chhattisgarh  

    Chhattisgarh called as bowl of rice, It reform by the 2000 constitution from the heart of country Madhaya Pradesh on 1 November 200 as a 26th state of India. The structure of Chhattisgarh is looks like the Hippocampus or Sea Horse. It forms by the combination of 16 district of madhaya Pradesh. It is situated in 17.46` longitude to 24.5’ and 80.15 to 84.20` latitude. Chhattisgarh spread on area of 1,35,194 Sq KM. Its length from North to south is 360 KM and from east to west is 140 KM. The population was 2,08,33,803 on 2001 calculation. As in population Chhattisgarh is in 17th rank. The total area of Chhattisgarh contains the 4.11% of Country Area.

Chhattisgarh Borders:: Chhattisgarh is surrounded by 6 different state. Utter Pradesh is situated at North side of Chhattisgarh, Jhakrakhand is situated at north East Side, the south it side of Chhattisgarh is covered by Orissa,Andhra Pradesh is in South side , Maharastra is in south west side and North West is covered by Madhya Pradesh. Chhattisgarh is primarily a rural state with only 20% of population residing in urban areas. 
Chhattisgarh is situated in central eastern part of the country. The north and south parts of the state are hilly, while the central part is a fertile plain. Forests cover roughly forty-four percent of the state. The northern part of the state lies on the edge of the great Indo-Genetic plain: The Rihand River, a tributary of the Ganges, drains this area. The eastern end of the Satpura Range and the western edge of the Chota Nagpur Plateau form an east-west belt of hills that divide the Mahanadi River basin from the Indo-Gangetic plain. .

The central part of the state lies in the fertile upper basin of the Mahanadi and its tributaries, with extensive rice cultivation. The upper Mahanadi basin is separated from the upper Narmada basin to the west by the Maikal Hills, (part of the Satpuras), and from the plains of Orissa to the east by ranges of hills.

The southern part of the state lies on the Deccan plateau, in the watershed of the Godavari River and its tributary the Indravati River. .

Chhattisgarh Rivers :: The Mahanadi is the chief river of the state. Other main rivers are Hasdo (a tributary of Mahanadi), Rihand, Indravati, Jonk and Arpa. .

12% of India's forests are in Chhattisgarh, and 44% of the State's land is under forests. Identified as one of the richest bio-diversity habitats, the Green State of Chhattisgarh has the densest forests in India, rich wildlife, and above all, over 200 non-timber forest products, with tremendous potential for value addition. One third of Chhattisgarh's population is of tribes, mostly in the thickly forested areas in the North and South. .

Chhattisgarh ancient monuments The State is full of ancient monuments, rare wildlife, exquisitely carved temples, Buddhist sites, palaces, water falls, caves, rock paintings and hill plateaus. Most of these sites are untouched and unexplored and offer a unique and alternate experience to tourists compared to traditional destinations which have become overcrowded. Chhattisgarh offers the tourist a Destination with a Difference. With 12% share of India's forests, Chhattisgarh's 3 National Parks and 11 Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks are a major attraction. The State encourages development of pilgrimage centres. Rajim, Champaranya, Dongargarh, Sheorinarayan, Girodhpuri, Dantewada, Ratanpur, Sirpur and others are prime destinations for pilgrim tourism. Sirpur and Dongargarh would be part of the wider Buddhist tourist circuit.
